Library Cards
Rules & Requirements
Library cards are renewed on a yearly basis; membership fees must be paid annually to maintain an active library account. You can renew your membership either in person at the front desk or over the phone during our normal operating hours. We are unable to take online renewals at this time.
You must present proof of residence (driver's license with current address, utility bills, and status cards are all acceptable proofs of residence) in order to be eligible for a library card.
The library accepts cash, cheque, debit, Visa, or Mastercard payments at the front desk. We can also accept credit card payments (MasterCard or Visa) over the phone.
If you are financially strained and need support to access a library card, please call the library or ask at the front desk what subsidies are available for your situation.
Replacement Cards
If you have lost your library card, you can get a replacement by presenting your identification and requesting one at the library front desk.
Prices are as follows:
Adult/Institutional Card: $2.00
Youth/Children/Seniors: $1.50
Town of Morinville Residents
Children (0-5): FREE with parent/guardian membership
Youth (6-17): $10.00
Adult (18-64): $15.00
Senior (65+): $10.00
Family (all household members): $25.00
Corporate/Institutional: $25.00
Alexander Residents
Children (0-5): FREE with parent/guardian membership
Youth (6-17): $10.00
Adult (18-64): $15.00
Senior (65+): $10.00
Family (all household members): $25.00
Corporate/Institutional: $25.00
Sturgeon County Residents
Children (0-5): FREE with parent/guardian membership

Legal Residents
Legal residents are subject to a $50 NLLS fee in addition to the membership fee.
Residents over 18 who have resided in Legal for over 90 days may apply to the Town of Legal to have the fee reimbursed. Documentation is required; ask at the front desk for more details.
Legal cardholders may use their TRAC login to view and renew loans, but may not place holds or access e-Resources.
Adult (18-64): $15.00

Temporary Residents
Temporary residents do not have a permanent address in Morinville or Sturgeon County and may include family members visiting over a period of months, Sandy Beach summer residents, workers on temporary contracts, and others. If you are not sure whether you qualify for a temporary library card, please call the library or ask at the front desk.
A temporary card requires an upfront deposit of $24.00. $2.00/month will be deducted from the deposit. At the end of your stay, the cardholder can return to the library and be refunded the unused portion of the deposit.
