Book Sale & Donations

COVID-19 Notice

Please note that due to COVID-19, Morinville Community Library cannot accept donations at this time. Please either hold your donations until such time as we can accept them, or donate them elsewhere with our thanks for considering us!

Book Sale

Did you know: Morinville Community Library is currently the only bookstore in town!

If you'd like to take home some books for good, check out our Book Sale Corner when you walk in the door. All of our for-sale books are previously owned - some are even discards from the library itself! - and all are priced as marked under $5 per book. Just browse the corner and bring your purchases to the library front desk to pay.

Twice per year in April and October, we hold a much bigger book sale to clear out our shelves. The sale is out in the lobby and all books are $5 per bag. If you bring your own bag, you can decide how many books that turns out to be!

All proceeds from used book sales go towards the library's program budget, to keep our programs high-quality and accessible to all.

Donating Books & Materials

Morinville Community Library gratefully accepts donations of books and other library materials, but we cannot always take all donations. Limited storage space means that all donations must be appraised by library staff before being accepted; the library reserves the right to refuse or redirect donations.

We can only accept donations given in person during normal operating hours. Please do not use the library dropbox to donate items.

Donations may be:

  • Added to the library's collection
  • Added to the library's Sale Corner or book sale, with sale proceeds raising funds to support library programs
  • Redirected to other charitable pursuits, such as the Greater Edmonton Library Association's Prison Libraries Project
  • Refused, with donors directed towards other recipients such as Value Village

Items we often accept (we cannot guarantee acceptance of any item):

  • Like-new copies of classic titles
  • Books published within the last 5 years
  • Recent bestsellers

Items we cannot accept:

  • Molding, water-damaged, battered, or otherwise damaged items
  • Textbooks
  • Dated non-fiction
