Introducing Beanstack!

January 9 2023

It is officially one week into January of 2023, and we have a cool new service to share with you! You may have already heard us talking about it since we have combined it with our annual Winter Reading Program (WRP). We are excited to introduce you to Beanstack!

Beanstack is a reading tracker in the form of both a desktop and app interface. Read and earn badges, participate in activities, challenges and more! It is a wonderful program that all of us at the library have been really enjoying, and some of the perks are:

  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Add multiple users on one account (great feature for a family!)
  • Fun challenges to win extra tickets for prize draws
  • Use timer to track your reading times
  • Review books
  • You don't need a library card to participate with us!

Using Beanstack with our Winter Reading Program

Some of you will be familiar with our Winter Reading Program (WRP), but for those who are not, here is a little bit of information:

  • WRP runs from January 1st until the February 28th.
  • This year's goal is for us to collectively log 104,000 minutes (1,000 more than last year!)
  • Every time you earn a badge on Beanstack, you get a ticket for a library prize
  • Prizes for top reader (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

The theme for this year's WRP is called "All the Feels". It is based on the history of emojis and promotes the idea of facing and nurturing one’s emotions and understanding them a little more.

Beanstack is a great way to boost your daily reading, and is a great aid in adopting and cultivating reading habits for all ages. If you think this service would be beneficial to you and your family, or if you need an extra push to get to your reading goals this year, consider joining us on Beanstack and get started with the All the Feels Challenge! All you need to do is visit https://morinvillelibrary.beanstack.org, and follow the instructions to set up your account and link to Morinville Community Library.

If you have any questions, or need any help setting up your account, you are more than welcome to email us at info@morinvillelibrary.ca, call us at 780-939-3292, or visit us in person! Happy reading!
