The databases listed below are available for use at the Morinville Public Library. Library staff can help library patrons to access these databases.


Heritage Quest Online

This database is the largest genealogical resource available online, covering Canada, United States and the U.K. including census, vital church, court, and immigration records, as well as extensive record collections.

This database is available remotely as well as in the Library. Designed specifically for patrons in public libraries who are either just beginning their family research or who after years of work are still uncovering their past. With over 25,000 books, the entire U.S. Federal Census, PERSI TM, and other expanding collections, tap in to one of the largest collections of genealogy material in the country.

To access the Heritage Quest database:

  1. You must have an up-to-date library card (click here for membership information)
  2. Go to http://catalogue.tracpac.ab.ca/polaris/Search/misc/esources.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.3&Category=100
  3. Enter your library barcode (found on your library card) and PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number)
  4. Search to your hearts content! Be sure to talk to your local librarian if you require assistance.

Ancestry Library Edition

This database is only available for use in the library.

This database is the largest genealogical resource available online, covering Canada, United States and the U.K. including census, vital church, court, and immigration records, as well as extensive record collections.

To access the Heritage Quest database:

There are presently a number of books available in the Library related to Morinville's Local Family Histories and on the History of Morinville.

Additional books can be searched and made available to the Morinville Public Library by searching Trac Pac, which is the link to the Northern Lights Library Services.
